However, the current version (Bible Kralicka) is from 1613, which is rather dated. I live, work and go to church in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and I happen to know some people from the team of translators of a new version that went into print last year. It's a nonprofit effort, and they are willing to supply me with the electronic text of the Bible. Is there some way to get it into VirtueBible please? If so, what kind of format would you need the data in? (BTW, I graduated from an IT college so feel free to use IT-speak on me :o)

Sorry to see no reply to my last remark.

I have downloaded VirtueBible to my HTC Desire and find it one of the best Bible Readers for Android at the moment. I would love to make it my every day reader. But I do not use old translations apart from for study. Having the Bible on a mobile device is in order to share with others (and also for pleasant private reading).

At the moment I am using "LiveBible" which has the "Bible du Semeur" available as a free download from BibleGateway (nearest French equivalent to NIV). But I would love to go back to "Parole de Vie" that I had on my Palm, or "Bible en Français Courant", both of which are available for iPhone. Is there any way of converting these digital Bibles to VirtueBible format ? It is such a shame not to be able to make the most of your Bible Reader in modern French.

Unfortunately, at this moment the VirtueBible SE is only available via the Android Market.  Only the FE edition is available for download from other channels such as SlideME. 

I have fixed the information on the website.  Sorry for the confusion.

I hope that in the future the SE edition will also be available through other channels, but as of now there's no schedule on when that will be possible.

These translations ARE copyrighted as they are recent ones. But they are so much easier to understand for the average French-man that I will not revert to Louis Segond (LSG) even if it's free !

 

These translations, and many more in French, are available in the paid version of the Online Bible (from which I was able to convert them for my Palm). The Bible du Semeur, for example, in book form is available as from 4€ ($5). I would be more than willing to pay this for each digital version.

Any hope ??

I am working in France and have been using Bible+ on Palm OS for many years. Just updating to Android I cannot find many modern French translations available. I have them on the Online-Bible and have been able to transfer them to Palm through an Open Source programme. Is there any way to do the same thing with VirtueBible ? Or will you be including other translations in the near future (Particularly "Parole de Vie", "Parole Vivante", "Bible en Français Courant" and "Bible du Semeur" ?

1. You can uninstall Bible versions by going to the "Library", and then "long press" on the version that you want to uninstall.  A context menu will then appear, and you can select "Uninstall" to delete the unwanted version.

It would certainly be a pitty if this project would die because it seems to be a good approach.

The VirtueBible application is still in development and we're adding some new features and improvements.  Some part might need to be rewritten to make use of new features available on the newer Android release.

We admit that the forum is not yet alive as we want to.  If you have any ideas on how to improve the forum/website please don't hesitate to let us know.
